

Francesco Mattuzzi, born in 1979, lives and works in Rovereto, in the province of Trento. He is a director who uses video as a tool for research and representation of contemporary social reality, with particular attention to subcultures and the contexts in which they arise. In 2010, together with Armin Linke, he presented Future Archeology at the 67th Venice Film Festival, in the Orizzonti section, a film that was then screened at over 30 international festivals. In 2015, his film Eyelid was presented at CPH:DOX in Copenhagen and at the AFFR – Architecture Film Festival in Rotterdam. In 2016, he was selected as a director for the Berlinale Talents, within the Berlin International Film Festival. His film The Weight of Dreams won the RAI Cinema Award at the Visioni dal Mondo International Festival and was subsequently selected for the Rome Film Fest and for the Doc for Sale at the IDFA. His latest documentary Landscapes of End was developed with the support of the EURODOC2020 training program and received production funding from RAI Cinema, CNC (centre national du cinema), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma and Lyon Capitale TV.
